Dennis O'Brien
Founder & Managing Partner

Leveraging over 20 years in news media and corporate communications to help clients increase engagement with stakeholders by distilling complex concepts into compelling corporate narratives.


Dennis leads the development and execution of creative thought-leadership campaigns, impactful video series, text and social content, and live events. Clients include/have included: Verily (an Alphabet company), Change Healthcare, Huawei, Teneo, Hexagon, among several others.

In addition, Dennis provides trusted PR and crisis management counsel and media training to Carbury’s clients. He also advises companies on ESG strategy, and leads the production of ESG and DE&I reports.

Prior to launching Carbury Communications in 2020, Dennis was a senior and executive producer at ABC News, HDNet, Bloomberg, and CNBC. Dennis produced primetime network specials, four interviews with U.S. presidents, large-scale live events, and groundbreaking broadcasts from around the world. His work was honored with multiple Emmy Awards, a Columbia DuPont Award, an RFK Journalism Award, and numerous other national awards.

O’Brien holds a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College. An avid skier and runner, he is most proud of his role as a dad to two great kids.

Alex Bhattacharji

Alex is a seasoned writer and editor with a two-decade record of producing award-winning editorial content.

Previously, Alex was Executive Editor of Details magazine (Condé Nast), and launched the independent magazine Budget Living, which won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence—the industry’s highest honor—in its first year.
 

Alex has also consulted on branding and advertising strategy at several agencies, including Lloyd & Co. in New York, and produced branded content for clients including Amazon Studios, Apple Music, Lenovo, Lexus, and Netflix.

Alex has held positions at Time Inc’s Entertainment Weekly and Sports Illustrated groups and Wenner Media’s Men’s Journal. Alex has edited some of America’s finest writers, including Michael Chabon, Tom Wolfe, Jim Harrison, Bret Easton Ellis, Rick Moody, and George Plimpton. As a writer, he has produced numerous reported features and profiled A-List celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron, Meryl Streep, and Pharrell Williams.

 

His roster of writing and editing clients has grown to include Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg Pursuits, British GQ, Condé Nast Traveler, Departures, Esquire, Fast Company, The Hollywood Reporter, InStyle, Los Angeles Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, Medium, Men’s Health, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Town & Country, Travel & Leisure, Wired UK, WSJ. (the monthly magazine of The Wall Street Journal), and Yahoo! media.

 

In 2020, he founded Buried Lede Productions, which develops IP for film and television from journalistic storytelling and currently has projects with HBO and Universal.

 

Following a trail blazed by the Dodgers, Bhattacharji moved from his native Brooklyn to the East Side of Los Angeles, where he lives with wife and dog, Primo.
